Playroom Furniture

Update: Here is what the storage bins and activity table turned out like (the sneak peek from the original post is below). Adding the newer photos here because they are look way better for pinning!

Original Post

 I've been working on updating our playroom the last couple of weeks. I've painted the walls and my husband built/helped me build some furniture I sketched up for him. Here's a sneak peek at what we made...

Stackable chicken coop cubbies for toy storage. They are made of pine and stained a dark walnut brown. I'm really excited because I did a lot of the work on these myself although my husband did all the math (good thing!) and helped me set up the equipment.

 While I was busy with the cubbies, my husband made a toy table. It has a rail around the top so little Lego pieces or train tracks don't fall off while you are building and each end of the table has six drawers for storage.

    Those toy cubbies are great! So is the table - which reminds me that I need to work on a similar project for our playroom! (although I won't be building anything myself! Just refurbishing;) Thanks for the inspiration!

    Anna: My husband does make custom furniture in the Utah Valley area. I want to start selling some of his work online...we'll see!

    Love this idea. I have a very large picture frame that would work well for a table top.

    Where did you buy the drawers stacked on the ends of the table?

    I just discovered your blog, and I LOVE the lego table! Have you posted instructions or plans yet? I'm thinking my lego crazed boys would love this for Christmas!

    Hi Alisha...we haven't posted plans, but I did see that Pottery Barn has a table that is somewhat similar (although not as large and no seating space between the drawers). Hope this helps!

    Just searching the web for ideas for a lego table for my 5 yr old son and came across your site. Kudos to you and your husband both! I do a little building myself but I'm not so good with the plans. You mentioned that you might be selling items online, would you be able to sell me the plans for the table? I really like the height of it. I also have a 1 yr old daughter and she would not be able to reach all the little pieces if I were to make this table. Brilliant!

    Like Elizabeth I too would like to purchase the plans for the Lego table. My 9yr old son has an out-of-control Lego problem in his room and I would LOVE to have this table be my solution.

    I have to say, you certainly have a great imagination and your husband really did an amazing job with these that toy storage and table with drawers! The colors are also great!     Hi...we made these in 2008 but as far as I can remember, we used Minwax Provincial stain and they are made out of pine. Thanks for the question!

    Hi there. The storage bins are approximately 40" W x 12" D x 13" H and the table is approximately 55" W x 38" D x 27" H.
